The annual Summer Solstice event for Destiny 2 is now live, and while this year's celebration isn't too different from the norm, this year's Solstice does introduce some luminous new armor sets for players to earn along with some freshened-up Solstice weapons. Last year's Solstice event in Destiny 2 may have been a pretty forgettable one in terms of loot, and so Bungie seem to have sweetened the pot this time around with some returning weapons capable of rolling with some pretty meta perk combinations - not to mention a totally new Solstice-exclusive void bow.
First things first, players can dive straight into Destiny 2's Solstice activities right now, with the event running throughout the next three weeks until August 27th. To some, this may seem like plenty of time - but to others, hunting down each and all of their God Roll weapons of choice in just a handful of weeks could be a bit of a challenge. Thankfully, it doesn't take long to get things started - as most veteran players will no doubt be accustomed to by now, this year's Solstice event brings back the Bonfire Bash event in the European Aerial Zone, where players will fight together to destroy bosses, stoke bonfires, and earn Silver Leaves - the currency used to redeem many Solstice-related rewards.

How to Get Started in Destiny 2's Solstice Event This Year
Eva Levante has, of course, set up shop in the middle of Destiny 2's social space once again as the seasonal vendor to help Guardians get the most out of the Solstice. From her, players can claim the Solstice Forge item, which really helps shake up this year's Solstice event - instead of simply looting event gear from activities, players get to make their own using the Forge. This handy event item can be accessed anytime from the director's Quest tab, and from it, players get to redeem Solstice bounties using Silver Leaves. These bounties reward alloys contributing to specific armor pieces, but only one bounty can be held at a time - making the quest to unlock a full Solstice armor set a gradual one.
Players will need to collect 100 armor-specific alloys to redeem any armor piece - for example, 100 Helmet Alloys will yield the Solstice helmet piece. After this, players can even enhance their armor's appearance by upgrading it with 500 alloys per piece. This year's Solstice event introduces a whole new set of event-themed armor for each class in Destiny 2, with these new sets marking something of a departure from previous ones. These new sets are particularly illuminated and flashy, pairing nicely with many colorful shaders.
Which Weapons to Keep An Eye Out For During This Year's Solstice in Destiny 2
Participating in the Solstice will additionally reward players with a select few Solstice weapons that make their return this year, including the Something New Stasis hand cannon, Crowning Dialogue Strand rocket launcher, and Compass Rose Solar shotgun. For PvP enthusiasts, the Compass Rose is absolutely worth farming this year, with Opening Shot and Slickdraw making for a somewhat unusual but significantly popular perk combo among PvP players. The new Solstice void bow in Destiny 2, Fortunate Star, is also a popular weapon already, thanks to it being able to drop with perks such as Repulsor Brace, Destabilizing Rounds, and Golden Tricorn.
Ultimately, all of the Solstice weapons have the potential to drop with some excellent perks this time around, and players will no doubt be pleasantly surprised with some of the rolls they might run into. There's plenty of good gear to grind for in Destiny 2 throughout the coming weeks, though players may also want to spend some of their Bright Dust on the various new Solstice-themed cosmetics available at Eververse now too.
